Q. When is registration?
A. Registration for BSLPAA Youth Football is open from May through July of each year. Registration for the 2013 season is now open!
Q. How do we register?
A. You need to registration online through our Website.
Q. Can we request a coach?
A. You may request a coach during online registration under the "Special Requests" section or contact your grade level commissioner to make a request. However, in a program of this size, it is impossible to grant every request.
Q. What equipment is needed?
A. For tackle football players, BSLPAA Youth Football provides the helmet, shoulder pads and padded pants. BSLPAA's equipment must be returned at the end of the season. Parents must provide cleats (METAL CLEATS ARE NOT ALLOWED) and protective cups.
Q. When is equipment distributed?
A. Equipment is distributed to players in grades 2-7 in July at the Blaine Baseball Complex, 1150 Paul Parkway, Blaine, MN 55434. Stay tuned for exact dates/times for July 2013.
Q. What if we don't think the equipment fits correctly?
A. Experienced BSLPAA Youth Football coaches will fit your child correctly during equipment handout. The equipment is fitted to each child at the time it was issued. Helmets are supposed to be tight to prevent injuries. If you feel your child wasn't properly fitted, please discuss it with your head coach and he will get it resolved.
Q. When and where are practices?
Practices usually begin in late August. Each head coach determines his own practice schedule and location. We suggest no more than 4 nights a week until the season starts. After the season starts we suggest 3 times a week. Example: 1 game and 2 practices or 2 games and 1 practice.
Q. How are teams formed?
A. The grade level commissioners form the teams. They try and form teams based on where the players live and go to school.
Q. When will we know what team we are on?
A. Registration for the 2013 season ends on July 19, 2013, so teams will not be formed until after that date. It is up to the head coach to contact their players. Remember, all head coaches are volunteers, with the exception of our 8th grade coaches. Head coaches are encouraged to contact their players within a few days of receiving their rosters. Coaches receive their rosters at the coaches clinic at the respective high school (Blaine or SLP), which are held in August.
Q. When and where are games?
Game nights for grades K through 7 can be on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday nights and/or on Saturdays. Game locations are not known until the game schedules are created. FYI...we do not create the game schedules for grades 4 through 8. Our league (TCNYFL) creates the game schedules for grades 4 through 8.
Q. When are game schedules completed?
A. Game schedules are usually not completed until late August.
Q. What is the TCNYFL?
A. The TCNYFL is an acronym for the Twin Cities North Youth Football League. WE (grades 4 through 8) are part of this league. It's a league consisting of surrounding communities. Being part of this league ensures that we play by the same rules against other communities.
BSLPAA practices and games will be cancelled for severe weather (lightning is a main factor) or if fields have been subjected to prolonged wet/rainy conditions. Game cancellations will be posted on the home page of this Website. Games can and will be conducted in rainy conditions (if the weather is not severe). Each coach is allowed to use his/her discretion on canceling practices for any reason and is responsible for communicating the cancellation of practice(s) to parents.
